I watched this on Amazon Prime. Everyone in the world needs to watch this film to see a realistic view of life with mental illness, aging, parenting, growing up, peer pressure, experimentation with substances, judgment, forgiveness, mistakes, starting over, and life! The portrayal of mental illnesses in this film was very accurate. The way it can control a person and their actions and reactions to everyday life are spot on. The way her family judged her, doubted her life and mental illness as the reason for her behavior, her struggles with accepting herself, and her family's acceptance and support that she could make constructive changes to make a better life for herself and her daughter, are very real. The effects of war and the mental illness it can cause. The shame of having a mental illness from the judgment. The effects on not only the other adults in a person's life who has a mental illness but the harsh stressful effects that children face from their parent having a mental illness. The aging parents fear being unable to care for themselves, their family making decisions for them, and taking their independence and dignity away to place them in a home instead of caring for them. Life is hard, add mental illness to it and it is 100 times more challenging. This film touched on so many of life's difficulties that one can face daily. This film is one of the best films I have watched.
