GOP propaganda goes back a long way. The hero/protagonist is made to sound like a communist when, after being voted out of office, he becomes editor of a small town newspaper. He decides to focus on industrial pollution of local waterways. After only one company head assures him that his company is not dumping any industrial waste at all in the river, the new editor gets another brainchild to go after "big business profits are too big." It's obvious to see where this is going. The editor's little sister gets trapped in an old mine cave-in on a school trip, and a big business mogul/apologist saves her with a bulldozer, a trip the the hospital in his private plane, and a ventilator with an electric motor that he manufactures. I understand that many people will be duped by this fictional act of largess, but I would direct them to the actual case of the Love Canal environmental disaster in NYS, the first superfund (CERCLA) site of industrial toxic waste that, with the EPA, established by President Richard Nixon, empowered the government to make polluters clean up after themselves on behalf of the public interest. So, this gets five stars as propaganda on behalf of polluters , plus, a very interesting cameo appearance by Marilyn Monroe from a time before her self parody as a sexpot when she still used her normal voice and still looked ravishing in business attire.
